＜This is the final draft for the magazine ‘SIGNATURE’＞
シンガポールのArt Science Museumで『THE ART & SCIENCE OF GEMS – 宝石にみる芸術と科学』が開催中だ。400点を超えるVan Cleef & Arpelsのアーカイブ。通常のテーマ展示やカテゴリー展示に加え、鉱物や宝石からジュエリーへと昇華していく『進化図』のような表現が面白い。
“The Art and Science of Gems” exhibition is currently being held at the Art Science Museum in Singapore. There are over four hundred archival pieces of Van Cleef & Arpels’ jewelry on display. Besides the display of particular themes or categories, there is an illuminating display like a diagram of evolution from raw material to finished product.
There is no need to expound on the beauty of the “Bird Clip and Pendant” piece as the masterpiece of this extravaganza. In 1971, the 96.62 carat diamond appeared at a Sotheby’s auction and so began its story as an entity with a consciousness. The more we know about these pieces, the more we become intoxicated by their stories.
Van Cleef & Arpels have drawn their inspiration from many movements: 1920′s flapper fashion to modernist, abstract and minimalist art movements, and hippy counter culture. One can feel the flow of history through the hundred years of archived pieces.
Here, in 2016, there is a huge swell of change. Reality and self actualization are key words when we talk about jewelry. The meaning of these words is also changing. In the modern art scene, new presentations have been born by reality, and proliferation on the Internet mixing. Self actualization has become more of a fundamental, base desire on the scene of SNS. This movement will fashion a new diagram of evolution for Van Cleef & Arpels.

I’m in my hometown w/o my iPhone. I have already known I left it in a shinkansen; I have already known this is in a critical year. Today is the last day of 2014 so it’s the best day to write about the most impressive day in this year.
I’ve got the news during my circumnavigation of the globe. “BANKSY The Unauthorised Retrospective” was held in renowned auction house, Sotheby’s London. This news made me to get ticket for London right away.
In fact, I saw some of his work in Tokyo, but this crowds of works in London was the never-to-be-forgotten collections for me. It made me to ask an inadvertent question to the agent in Sotheby’s “How much is this?”.
It’s the beginning of the new level of “Inadvertently life”. It’s the power of Art and Fashion. They make me to open the door of my next stage, inadvertently. Thanks 2014, a stellar year!
It was almost here! Nov. 6th 2014, time to meet some stellar items; the collaboration of ALEXANDER WANG x H&M. I was super lucky to be aguest at a celeb-packed runway show & shopping party before they officially hit the stores worldwide.
To the party on a cool, black vinyl wrapped bus. Of course, everybody is already hyper for the much-anticipated unveiling party. A woman screamed, “Welcome to NY!” Huh? Thanks , but aren’t you stay at the Mondrian Soho Hotel too? Who cares anyway, it’s a party!
What a fierce show! Gorgeous models like Joan Smalls and Karlie Kloss, sports inspired pieces, made this non-gym guy want to work out. I can truly say this is a requisite collection; one of the best H&M collaborations.
A ‘Running-Wang’ appeared at the end of the show, fire us up for the shoppping extravaganza. Now we are all dying to race into the pop-up store. I’ve got ‘boxing glove’ and ‘ backpack’ first, which were on my shopping list, and kept hunting 7 items total.
My friend George was OK to carry around lots of items, but I had to take three breaks during the shopping because of physical degeneracy…Yes, I am too old. Too many breaks made me too late to join the fantastic Missy Elliot live show. But I didn’t miss a cool part; Mr. Wang hit the stage and turned to the Dancing- Wang! Yes, that’s the killer party! That’s NY!
I’ve recently paid $900 bucks for a pair of Alexander Wang boots, but alas, I bought 7 items for less than $1,000! A leather backpack seems to be the most popular item, people asked me ‘Where did you get it?’ many times, actually 6.4 times to be exact. Oh you may wonder about 0.4… I add extra 0.4 points for a lady asking questions very aggressively.
